Qhawekazi is an ethnomusicologist, researcher, musician, writer, and teacher, originally􏰁 from East London, Eastern Cape, South Africa. Her research, teaching, and performance interests lie in the presentation of indigenous knowledge systems and jazz music.

She is currently􏰁 completing her􏰁 Masters Degree in Ethnomusicology􏰁 through the International Library􏰁 of African Music at Rhodes University, as a member of the jazz􏰃􏰃 heritage project titled “Research on the neo-traditional jazz heritage of the Eastern Cape from a developmental perspective.”
